O2 Landscapes features in new book on landscape design
'Native By Design', a new book on landscape design with New Zealand plants was released in September 2011 - for which Philip Smith had the honour of being invited to submit a chapter. The subject of this chapter is one that is close to our hearts; the progressive use of threatened plants within gardens.
Two O2 Landscapes gardens featured within the chapter; the montane garden near Lake Tekapo, and our Westmere garden. The Tekapo garden constitutes a very naturalistic approach, in which we were able to utilise a significant range of South Island species of conservation value (and aesthetic interest). The Westmere garden represents a more abstracted approach, that is adapted to the context of an inner Auckland suburb.

The book has beautiful production values, thanks to the efforts of the publishers, Canterbury University Press, and the editors and photographer (Ian Spellerberg, Michele Frey and John Maillard) - all of whom were both attentive to detail and a pleasure to deal with.
